Becoming: A Liberatory Practice of Identity, Rest & Transformative Leadership

  • University of San Diego 5998 Alcala Park Way San Diego, California, 92110 United States (map)

Join RISE San Diego and Nadeaja Shaheed, M.A., of Honey & Kind Coaching for Becoming: A Liberatory Practice of Identity, Rest & Transformative Leadership, an in-person, one-day workshop exploring what it means to lead from the fullness of who you are, rather than from what the world expects you to be.

Using the metaphor of a tree, participants will map the roots, trunk, branches, and leaves of their identities, and explore how the stories we carry, the voices within us, and the systems around us shape the way we lead.

Together, we will:

  • Explore storytelling as medicine, ancestral wisdom, and reflective writing

  • Build nervous system awareness through grounding, breath, and embodied practice

  • Examine identity, power, and belonging in conversation with bell hooks, Gloria Anzaldúa, and Frantz Fanon

  • Reclaim rest as a practice of resistance and care, drawing on Tricia Hersey’s Rest Is Resistance

Saturday, December 5, 2026 (10:00 am–4:00 pm): University of San Diego, Mother Rosalie Hill Hall

Investment: $449 RISE alumni · $849 general admission
